Certified Fire Inspector I
The NFPA Certified Fire Inspector I (CFI-I) certification program was created in response to repeated requests by local entities, state agencies, and national organizations for certification programs founded on the NFPA 1031, Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Inspector and Plan Examiner, and other applicable NFPA codes and standards.

The attainment of a high school diploma or equivalent
Exam Information
• Open Book Examination.
• 4 Hours.
• 100 MCQ.
• Recertification = 3 years
• ISO – Quality Testing Center
Recertification
• Once a candidate has been certified as a fire inspector I, recertification every three years is required. In order to maintain currency and relevancy in the profession, CFI-I certification holders are required to demonstrate their continuing participation in professional development activities in the fire inspection field of practice.
• NFPA awards points towards recertification for various activities. Sixty (60) points of professional development activities related to fire inspection must be earned and submitted during the 3-year recertification cycle.
• Certification holders are required to complete and return the Summary of Recertification Points Form attesting that they have 60 recertification points

• Attainment of a high school diploma or equivalent
• Current certification at the level of fire inspector I
Recertification
• Once a candidate has been certified as a fire inspector II, recertification every three years is required. In order to maintain currency and relevancy in the profession, CFI-II certification holders are required to demonstrate their continuing participation in professional development activities in the fire inspection field of practice.
